The Perfect Destiny

Chapter 3

When Chen Liguo pushed open the door, he saw Xu Luoya sitting in the corner. He walked over and sat down opposite Xu Luoya and asked, “What?”

Xu Luoya put a paper bag onto the table and pushed it over to Chen Liguo, “Look.”

Chen Liguo took the bag and found that it was a document about severing ties with the Xu family and a bank card, he said, “What do you mean by this?”

Xu Luoya smiled indifferently. She said, “The meaning is that in the future, you and the Xu family won’t have anything to do with each other anymore.”

It must be said, Chen Liguo had no feelings for the Xu family, but in order to cooperate with Xu Luoya, he still put on a sorrowful expression and asked, "Does Father know that you’re doing this?"

Xu Luoya said, “Since today I was able to ask you to come here, naturally I have Father’s consent.”

Chen Liguo revealed a sorrowful expression and with trembling hands, took the documents. With a shaky voice, he said, "Alright, I’ll sign. But I have a question."

Xu Luoya smiled contemptuously, seemingly knowing what Chen Liguo was going to ask—did father ever truly think of me as his son?

Tears welled up in Chen Linguo’s eyes and said with a sob, "How much money is there in this card?"

Xu Luoya heard this question and was stunned for a few moments, she felt as though she must have heard wrong. She said, "What did you say?"

"I said, how much money is there in this card." Chen Liguo said innocently, "What’s the password?"

Xu Luoya was speechless.

Chen Liguo asked, "What’s wrong?"

Xu Luoya took a breath and then took another breath, seemingly trying to repress her emotions. She said, "There’s enough for you to use for the rest of your life. The password is six zeros."

Chen Liguo skimmed the document and found that by taking the money, he was giving up his power to inherit the Xu family’s shares. Then he simply signed his name and put the bank card in his breast pocket.

Cen Liguo said, "Do you need anything else? If not, I’m leaving first."

Xu Luoya said gravely, "Don’t tell me that you really don’t want to ask me why?"

Chen Liguo asked, "Why what?"

Xu Luoya answered, "Why I suddenly wanted to sign this agreement with you."

"Will you tell me?" Chen Liguo asked?

Xu Luoya looked Chen Liguo up and down, "That depends on your attitude."

‘Bang’ Xu Luoya slammed her coffee onto the table, and stared at Chen Liguo’s back with anger, "Hmph, just wait and see if you’ll come back crying to beg me."

Chen Liguo was in a good mood. He has no interest in the Xu Family, It doesn’t matter if he takes the card or not. That performance was just for that hateful Xu Luoya. Anyways, once Ran Tongtong’s matter is finished, he’ll leave this world.

While thinking this, Chen Liguo’s cell phone rang again. He took a look, and found that is was Ran Qingkong’s number—yes, he has already memorized it by heart.

Chen Liguo Chen Liguo picked up the phone and made a sound of greeting.

"Where are you?" Ran Qingkong’s voice came from the phone.

"I’m at CC cafe." Chen Liguo said. "......What’s the matter?"

Ran Qingkong said, "Wait, I’ll pick you up."

Chen Liguo still wanted to ask another question when Ran Qingkong hung up.

Chen Liguo was speechless. How come today is so strange?

Ran Qingkong came very quickly, when Chen Liguo saw him, he made his way over to the car.

Chen Liguo didn’t ask any questions and obediently got in the car.

Ran Qingkong’s mood didn’t seem too good. He seemed to want to smoke, but after he touched his pocket he retracted his hand.

Chen Liguo was keenly aware of Ran Qingkong’s strangeness but didn’t say anything about it.

It was silent for ten minutes until Ran Qingkong suddenly opened his mouth to ask, "Are you going to leave again?"

"Going. After a few days, I’ll leave again. Chen Liguo answered casually and did not take Ran Qingkong’s question to heart—how was he to know about the serious consequences that his answer will bring in the future.

Ran Qingkong heard this and silently turned his head to glance at Chen Liguo. That meaningful stare gave Chen Liguo goosebumps. "Wh-what?"

"Nothing." Ran Qingkong turned his gaze back to the front.

After twenty minutes of driving, they finally reached Ran Qingkong’s residence.

Chen Liguo looked at the building outside the car, and an unexplainable excitement bubbled inside him, it was his first time coming to the house of someone he likes, how is he supposed to act? Urgently awaiting for answers online.

Ran Qingkong looked at Chen Liguo thoughtfully, seemingly mistaking his excitement as nervousness. He said, "Let’s go, Tongtong isn’t here."

"Oh," Chen Len pretend to hesitate, "You...... what do you want?"

"Just inviting you to have a meal." Ran Qingkong’s soft voice made Chen Liguo’s heart feel itchy.

"Then, I’ll be troubling you." Chen Liguo looked at Ran Qingkong’s back as he got off the car, his heart overflowing with an indescribable feeling, similar to how he felt when meeting that person from before he started reincarnating to different worlds.

Ran Qingkong’s residence had a simple European style and gave off a slightly cold feeling.

Chen Liguo was a little constrained and he sat on the sofa, only daring to drink water.

“Say, why did Ran Qingkong suddenly invite me to eat.” Chen Liguo was bored and chatted with the system. “Could it be that he likes me?”

The System replied, "Logically, he might want to tell you to stop bothering his sister."

Chen Liguo was speechless. Ai, reality is so tragic!. But then again, to be able to eat Ran Qingkong’s handmade cooking, it’s worth it.

With a mindset of ’anybody who doesn’t eat only has himself to blame’, Chen Liguo solemnly sat at the dining table and waited for Ran Qingkong to serve the food.

Ran Qingkong had taken off his suit and wore a white dress shirt underneath that showed his good figure. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing a pale sturdy arm, and his long fingers seemed to appear even more attractive.

It was too beautiful. Chen Liguo’s eyes followed Ran Qingkong and never left. Most of their contact had only been because of Ran Tongtong, for the two to be alone together was incredibly rare.

However, the relationship between the two of them was not bad and Ran Qingkong’s attitude towards Chen Liguo was also unexpectedly soft.

Everything that Ran Qingkong made was what Chen Liguo liked to eat.

He brought out Sichuan spicy boiled fish, crispy fried dried fish, and light and tender tofu... Everything looked appealing, and it can be assumed that the taste wouldn’t be bad either.

Chen Liguo beamed and said, "Brother Ran, how did you know what I like to eat?"

Ran Qingkong indifferently untied his apron and put it to the side, "I know more than you think."

Chen Liguo tasked the Sichuan boiled fish. The fish was tender and the flavor was nice and spicy. After taking just a single bite, Chen Liguo revealed a stunned expression and exclaimed, "Brother Ran, your cooking is really great!"

Ran Qingkong hummed in acknowledgment and helped serve Chen Liguo’s food.

"Brother Ran, how could I have never known how delicious your cooking was before?" Chen Liguo ate a crispy dried fish and sighed, “I really envy your girlfriend.”

Ran Qingkong’s expression didn’t change. "When are you leaving?"

Chen Liguo said, “I don’t know... depends on the situation.”

Ran Qingkong nodded, got up, and went to the wine cabinet to get a bottle of red wine. He said, “Drink some?”

"Alright." Chen Liguo smiled brilliantly. Even though he doesn’t like drinking wine, drinking a little bit with Ran Qingkong wouldn’t do any harm.

The red wine flowed into the glass and Ran Qingkong sat down on the opposite side of Chen Liguo. The two looked at each other.

“Ah, speaking of which, I never paid attention before.” Chen Liguo put a piece of fish in his mouth[1] and said, “I never realized before.... Brother Ran and Ran Tongtong look really similar.”

Chen Liguo didn’t know if it was just his own misconception, once he had said this, Ran Qingkong’s entire person exuded a gloomy air. But when he looked again he found that it seemed to be his own misconception.

"I feel that something is fishy here." Chen Liguo muttered to the system. "Say, do you think that maybe Ran Qingkong, because I keep on bothering Ran Tongtong, wants to get me drunk to beat me up?"

The System replied, "If he really wanted to beat you up, do you really think that he’ll need to get you drunk?"

"......" Chen Liguo couldn’t refute it.

However, although he was telling the system about his worries, Chen Liguo’s action of eating did not falter in the least. Rather, it was Ran Qingkong who did not eat much.

With a cup of red wine in his stomach, Chen Liguo’s face was a little flushed, and he felt a little dizzy. He felt that he must’ve drunk too much because while he was eating he looked over and found that Ran Qingkong’s eyes were brimming with love.

Chen Liguo stunned for a moment and told himself that he drank too much.

"Wenyou." Ran Qingkong’s voice rang softly. He said, "Do you still remember the first time we met?"

Chen Liguo said, “Remember, remember ah.” Ran Qingkong looks so good, how would he ever forget.

“Oh, do tell.” Ran Qingkong said.

"Wasn’t it not the first day of school......" Chen Liguo muttered. "You were helping Tongtong hold her bag and followed her from behind."

Ran Qingkong heard Ran Tongtong’s name and was silent for a moment. He swirled the wine in his glass and said, “Sure enough, you forgot.”

If it were the usual Chen Liguo, then he definitely would have realized that something wasn’t right with Ran Qingkong. But he had drunk alcohol and his brain wasn’t working properly so he didn’t perceive Ran Qingkong’s strangeness. He asked vaguely, "Wh, what.... do you mean?"

Ran Qingkong said, “The first time we met, it was that year, on February the seventeenth.”

Chen Liguo’s brain had already stopped working and he stared at Ran Qingkong in a daze. The whole world was spinning.

Ran Qingkong continued, “There was heavy snow that day, you were holding an umbrella and just stared at the Tsing Trade Tower.”

Chen Liguo collapsed on the table.

Ran Qingkong said, “At that time I saw you and thought that kid was really interesting, Wenyou?”

Chen Liguo wanted to respond, but he couldn’t speak. He realized that something was wrong, but it was too late.

Ran Qingkong stood up and walked to Chen Liguo’s side. He gently stroked Chen Liguo’s black hair in the same way Chen Liguo would Ran Tongtong’s hair. He said, “I have waited too long. Waited until I’ve almost gone crazy.”

Chen Liguo completely sunk into the darkness.

"That’s why I’m sorry."

Translator Notes:

Other Notes:

This is my first time reading the novel, so I get giddy whenever I guess the future events correctly. I was giggling like crazy when Chen Liguo drank the wine.

Edit: Not the wine that was drugged, it was the food. Lol.

Edit2: changed “Lies” to “Bang”
